Telenor Pakistan in collaboration with Facebook has launched internet.org in Pakistan, an initiative with the goal of making basic internet services accessible to millions who are not yet connected to the internet and bringing the same opportunities to everyone. After launching Internet.org in India and Africa recently, Facebook is set to launch this initiative in Pakistan in collaboration with Telenor to provide free internet access to the people.
Telenor Pakistan is only telecom services provider currently which has collaborated with Internet.org to provide free access to some national and international websites. Telenor 2G and 3G users will be able to download ‘Internet.org’ Android app from Google Play Store to access free websites. With the help of this initiative, just like six other countries of the world, the people of Pakistan will be able to get free access to basic internet services for jobs, health and communications. However, some other telecom companies and content providers of Pakistan will soon join this initiative of Facebook, reportedly.
