All Pakistan Badminton Championship got under way at Wapda Sports Complex, Ferozepur Road on Sunday. Director General Sports Board Punjab (SBP) Usman Anwar, who was the chief guest, inaugurated the 6-day championship. On the opening day, four matches were played. In the first match, Wapda toppled Police 3-0 while Railway emerged winners by the same margin against Sindh in the second encounter. NBP thrashed New Khan by 3-0 in the next clash while in the last match of the day, SNGPL defeated Punjab 3-1.
Talking to media, DG SBP Usman Anwar said that all the credit of these sporting activities goes to Chief Minister Punjab, who organized grand event of Punjab Youth Festival in a befitting manner. “We are quite determined to organize even bigger second phase of international festival in September this year. We will involve more number of masses and institutions, departments in our next campaign,” he added. To a question DG SBP told that their efforts were still being praised throughout the world for holding Punjab Youth Festival in such a grand manner.
